To obtain this clearance the adjustable ball in the push rod end of each rocker must be screwed either one way or the other until the feeler gauge provided in the tool kit will slide quite easily between the rocker pads and the valve stems. The clearance should be checked after the lock-nut of the adjustable ball has been tightened.When adjusting the valve clearances it is recommended that the following procedure should be adopted to ensure that the tappet is on the base of the cam while the clearance is being set.Adjust all inlet valve clearances first, and then repeat in the same manner for the exhaust valves. Set No. 1 inlet valve clearance when No. 6 inlet valve is fully open; set No. 5 when No. 2 is fully open; set No. 3 when No. 4 is fully open; set No. 6 when No. 1 is fully open; set
