The engine will start immediately and will run at a speed around 1,000 r.p.m. As the engine warms up, the choke knob can be pushed in, say half-way, and after one to two miles can be pushed right in. It is advisable to dispense with the rich mixture produced by the use of the choke knob as soon as possible. For cars fitted with S.U. Carburettors see page 27.SSTARRTINNG WHEN HEN HOHOTTo start the engine when it is hot, do not use the cold starting choke %u201c C,%u201d but depress the accelerator pedal slowly about a quarter to half the travel, and hold it steadily in that position. On no account should the accelerator pedal be pumped, as this action injects petrol into the carburettor chokes and produces an over-rich mixture, in which case it will be necessary to open the throttle to the full extent of the accelerator pedal travel in order to give more air to the over-rich mixture in the induction system.GEEARR CHHANNGINNGSynchromesh engagement is provided on second, third and top gear. In gear changes other than from second to first the clutch pedal should be fully depressed, the gear lever moved positively and DDASHSHBOOARDRD CONONTROLS ROLS(A) Dip-switch (B) Air Conditioning Controls(C) Petrol Reserve (D) Ignition Warning Light (E) Ignition Switch (F) Light Switch (G) Choke Control (H) Starter Push (I) Wipers (J) Panel Lights.
