Page 56.Alvis Three Litre Shop Manual - T.A. 21 and T.C. 21THE DROP-HEAD COUPEThe hood of the Tickford four-seater drophead coupe may be folded back as a coupede-ville or packed flat as an open tourer.With the hood raised, the drop-head coupe has all the warmth and comfort of a saloon. The %u2018de-ville%u2019 or intermediate position of the hood gives the front seat passengers the advantage of an open car plus the virtual elimination of draughts on the back of the neck.HHood OOpperati ationIt is usually more convenient to lower the side windows before opening or closing the hood.To OPEN THE HOOD FROM THE %u2018CLOSED%u2019 TO THE %u2018DE-VILLE%u2019 POSITION:1. Release the two catches above the windscreen by pulling the levers towards the outside of the car as far as they will go.2. Raise the front rail of the hood until the chromium plated arms on which it pivots are vertical (Fig. 1). The front rail catches can then be closed again.3. Lift the front rail of the hood off the chromium plated arms returning the latter to the horizontal position.4. Pull the front rail of the hood backwards until it and the loose hood are extended along the top of the rear half of the hood (Fig. 2).5. Fold the two side arms by pushing the front ends towards the centre of the car%u2013 the left-hand arm must be folded first.6. Unclip the two wide straps attached to the top of the side arms, one above each window, and see that they hang vertically downwards in front of the arms.7.
