Roll up the hood as tightly as possible around the front rail with the outer hood covering material on the outside.10 Place the hood roll in position just above the folded arms and just ahead of the hood frame, leaving a loop of material about 3%u201d to 6%u201d hanging doubled between the roll and the hood frame (Fig. 3).11. Strap up the hood roll by fastening the two straps to the fasteners on the top exterior of the hood frame.NOTE.%u2014It is essential that the front part of the hood be ROLLED UP TIGHTLY and STRAPPED UP TIGHTLY.If this is not done excessive chafing of the hood covering may take place for which we cannot hold ourselves responsible.To OPEN THE HOOD FROM THE %u201cDEVILLE%u201d TO THE %u201cFULLY-OPEN%u201d POSITION:1. Pull forward carefully the hood cover from the recess behind the rear seat so that it is hanging over the top of the latter and is quite clear of the recess into which the hood will have to fold.2. Make sure that the hood recess is quite empty.3. Pull up the lower ends of the two chromium plated toggle fasteners at the rear of each door as far as they will go. This will release the head.4. Lower the hood slowly into the hood recess and return the toggle fasteners to their flush position.5. Release the hood straps from the fasteners on the top exterior of the hood frame before they are made inaccessible as the hood fully enters the recess.6. Let the hood roll come forward so that it lies just behind the back of the rear seat and the arms in their folded position. The best position for the roll is when the hood rail in its centre is upside down (Fig. 4).7. Turn the hood cover over into position, pressing the folded hood down firmly into the hood recess (it is spring loaded). Fasten the fifteen snap fasteners (Fig. 5).THE HOOD IS CLOSED IN THE REVERSE ORDER.HHood MatateriaialsMohair hoods should only be cleaned by brushing with a good stiff brush. Plastic material may be cleaned with soft soap and water, after sluicing off the grit with plenty of water.HHood MecchaaniismmA few drops of light oil may be applied to the bearings revealed when the head is lowered and a smear of vaseline applied to the chromium plated locating peg.RadioTwo types of radio may be fitted in the car as an optional extra if desired%u2014%u2019His Master%u2019s Voice%u2019 Automobile Radio, Model 4200B, or the %u2018Ekco%u2019 Car Radio, Model C.R.117.The H.M.V.
